In order to fully avoid packing everything at the last minute, you need to pack for the journey the night before the departure time, and convince you family members to do the same. In order to avoid forgetting important material, you should do a check list of the things you must have for vacation. Thereby you'll be ready first thing in the morning ready.
When you are actually out on the open road, there is another problem which will eat your face. It's called over-scheduling and it involves planning too many activities for the amount of time that you have available. Things will always change at the last minute. You can count on it. So go easy on yourself and don't plan too much.
It is also vital that everyone who you are related to be able to have a say in what you are doing while you are on vacation. Give each and every member of the team a chance to weigh in with their options for things to do while on the trip. If they feel like they have a choice they will have fun.
Lastly, but not leastly, you may find that you have to bring a little bit of homework with you. Don't allow it to stress you, but set a little bit of time aside so that you have the time to actually do the work without in interrupting your trip.
This will all be tactics for making sure that you have a good time on the road and so does everybody else. You need a relaxing vacation and you get no points for being stressed out upon your return from your trip.
